ARISS-USA has named Jackie Blumer (KC9LEH), currently the ARISS Business Development Coordinator, as the new Associate Director for the organization.
Blumer, of Greenville, Illinois, has been a teacher for more than 26 years and is a nationally recognized leader in amateur radio and space education and a passionate advocate for getting students interested in careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields.
Within ARISS-USA, Jackie has served in several national leadership roles, including Education Mentor, Logistics Coordinator, Business Development Coordinator, and a member of the Executive Team. In these positions, she has helped strengthen partnerships, support strategic planning, coordinate national and international events, expand educational outreach, and develop new opportunities that advance the ARISS mission. Her collaborative leadership has helped connect educators, amateur radio operators, industry partners, and volunteers to bring meaningful space communication experiences to students around the world.
Jackie is committed to bringing more licensed operators into the amateur radio family through hands-on learning and mentorship. She has organized licensing classes, coordinated school radio activities, supported ARISS contacts with astronauts aboard the International Space Station, and developed engaging educational programs that demonstrate the real-world value of amateur radio in communication, exploration, and STEM careers.
Jackie is also the founder of STEM4U2, LLC, where she develops innovative aerospace and engineering programs for schools, museums, camps, and community organizations. Her dedication to excellence has earned numerous state and national awards, but she is most proud of the lasting impact she has made by helping students discover new passions, empowering educators with practical resources, and building partnerships that ensure ARISS and amateur radio continue to inspire future generations.
